This project investigated new methods of collecting skid resistance and surface texture data on road networks. The project examined the viability of using realtime ‘friction/grip’ data collected via crowdsourcing to assess the skid resistance of the road surface. The new method could be used in conjunction with, or to replace, traditional network skid resistance test methods.
